Here is another issue of the rock magazine 'NME'. As you can see from the previous magazine i analysed the magazine editors have kept the colour scheme the same: Red, black, white and bits of yellow. This is so it is recognised by the buyers. Compared to the other magazine, this front cover is quite empty, It has one large kicker and main image. This is what our eyes are drawn to at first because of the rule of third. There is no strap lines which is unusual for magazines because they show the readers what the magazine contains which sells the magazine. But i think that this layout is very effective because it is a well known magazine brand, As you can see half on the mast head is covered this is because the title can be recognised without seeing all of it because it is a popular magazine that is familiar worldwide. The costume that has been chosen for lily Allen reflects the colour scheme of the magazine the red and black compliment each other which makes the magazine stand out.

The masthead is one of the key features of this magazine. It is big and bold which makes it stands out. There is alot of colours in this magazine which isn't a usual convention of a front cover, there is normally three main colours but this front cover is different The blue masthead and fergie's outfit is one of the main colours. There is also green, white red and a vintage style wallpaper in the background. Although there is alot of colours going on in the magazine, the layout is quite simple there is only one main image, the strap lines are plain and straight to the point. I think if there was anymore images it would spoil the front cover and make it look too busy. I think this magazine would draw the attention of the consumer as it's exciting, and it's the image and strapline which catches out attention first.

This is a simple layout for a magazine. It contains a masthead a main image, a skyline, a kicker and a few strap lines. The magazine has a plain background which makes the main images of the women and the strap lines stand out more. I like the way the simplistic layout makes the magazine appear vintage and the models costume. This magazine breaks the generic conventions of a magazine.

This is one of the photographs we considered as a front cover for our magazines. We liked this image as the back ground and the bright funky clothes on the model contrast with each other and make the model the main feature of the magazine. It also looks urban which ties in with the genre of the magazine. This image has the conventions of a normal magazine (rule of third) However the reason we never choose this image was because we wanted the model to be on the other side of the camera shot so it would be simple to put the strap line on the left hand side. Also, this model was already used for another front cover for one of the three magazines.

This is another photo we took as a group. We also considered this as a main image. We were thinking of using it because we made the model pose as if she was holding onto something, then we were going to create it as she was holding onto the title. We could have used it using a typical convention of magazine front covers (rule of thirds)
We were unable to use it because the model is in another image on one of our other issues of magazine front cover. We also did not like the pose because the model looks uncomfortable and does not fit the genre of urban pop, which the artist look natural and fun looking. We also didn’t like the lighting because there were shadows and we could not get rid of them when we tried to edit it.
This is one of the photos we took, and as a group we considered it for the front cover. We liked the colourful costumes and the background wasn't too busy. We also liked the relaxed and urban poses of the models. However we decided not to use this image because one of the girls is already used in one of our other front covers in the same outfit, and we have to have 3 different issues of the magazine with 3 different images.

This is a rock magazine that would target teenagers and Young adults that are into rock music, gossip and artists. There are three main colors in this magazine they are: Red, black and white. The two main things that stand out in this front cover is the Main image and the kicker. The main image has the rule of third principle. It draws the reader in because the women takes up alot of the page and has eye contact with he audience. The women links in with he colour scheme her lipstick is red, her hair is black and her skin is fair which ties in with he rest of the magazine. Also the another thing that stands out is the kicker this is because it is big and bold. The contrast between the black and the white colour theme make it a key feature of the magazine, The font has a worn effect. The whole of the magazine is packed full of information, you can tell this by the kicker, strap lines and skyline.
